To judge whether a person is healthy can be based on whether his vital signs are normal. We may see the different colors of the patient monitor screen beside the bed in a TV show or movie, and the machine is always making a sound. But what do these wavy lines and sounds represent? Today AMIS Medical will take you into the magical medical world to see if the patient monitor interprets the body’s vital signs.
Vital signs are the most basic functions for measuring the human body. The four main vital signs include:
- Body temperature: 36.5-37.2 degrees Celsius for normal body temperature
- Heart rate: The normal pulse range for healthy adults is 60 to 100 beats per minute. Adult females have a slightly faster heart rate than adult males.
- Respiratory rate: Respiratory rate is the number of breaths a person breaths per minute. The normal respiratory rate of an adult at rest ranges from 12 to 16 beats per minute.
- Blood pressure: Blood pressure is not considered as a vital sign, but it is usually measured with the other three vital signs. Normal blood pressure is systolic blood pressure less than 120 and diastolic blood pressure less than 80 (120/80).
If the number displayed on the patient monitor is within the normal range, it means that you are healthy. If the value is beyond or below the normal range, you should consult a medical professional or health care professional and take appropriate measures.
Patient monitors are table-topped and portable. No matter what type of monitor you want, you can find them at AMIS Medical.
